“Russia from inside and outside. Three different views on nowadays Russia: Sometimes melancholic, but more in an ironic way.” This project was first shown in Erevan and Moscow. The idea is to bring different artists together, each with their specific view on Russia, from the inside and from the outside. Debby Huysmans and Maaike Leyn live in Belgium but they find inspiration for their work in Russia. Vika Begalska and Dmitry Bulnygin live and work in Moscow. Together they form the group “Velcome”. They describe with their own eyes Russia today, and make their own interpretation, using different media: Debby Huysmans is a photographer, Maaike Leyn makes drawings, Vika Begalska is a painter and Dmitry Bulnygin a video artist. They travel together to forgotten places in Russia, make their own interpretation and bring it back together.
