Civilization is images: why resist?
But give vitality to images, to motion pictures, to lives other than one’s own. Art always aims towards common ground, the shared melody of things, where the sounds of the world melt with the crossing of unpredictable communities: memories without subject and displayed intimacies. Art is cutting edge. Intimacy moves on by searching ‘contact points’ with the world, with exteriority. We endlessly strive to transcend the image, but the image speaks only of the world. Drawing is not merely an exercise in sensory motor coordination. It is broken space and abstract matrix. Drawing does not know the trauma of birth. It does not “happen”, it does not appear, but continues endlessly.
