- Include 5–10 pictures of work shown or exhibition views from the gallery.
The goal of SUPERMARKET is to provide a showcase for artists' initiatives from all over the world and to create opportunities for new networks in the Swedish and international art scenes. It is also an art fair that strives to offer the visitor an experience, rather than focusing on sales.
SUPERMARKET 2010 will take place at Kulturhuset (The House of Culture) in Stockholm.
Kulturhuset is located at Sergels torg in the very centre of Stockholm. Since its opening in 1974 Kulturhuset has offered culture in all imaginable shapes. Last year Kulturhuset had three million visitors. Recent exhibitions at Kulturhuset: Shirin Neshat, Sally Mann, Louise Bourgeois, Loretta Lux, Nan Golding, Nobuyoshi Araki, Martin Parr.
Seminars:
As SUPERMARKET builds upon the notion of “artist-run initiatives“, we feel it is vital to discuss financial and organisational issues in this context. A number of international guests, artists as well as theorists, will illuminate these issues from various points of view, mixed up with performances and screenings in the SUPERMARKET TALKS.
Cost of participation:
The cost of participation amounts to SEK 4000 + VAT (approx. € 500), and includes one exhibition space, service personnel, and advertising, as well as the PR and the publication of the catalogue and website. Many of the participants receive funding from their national cultural administration or embassies, which are represented with logotypes in all printed material and on the web. We recommend that exhibitors apply for funding to cover transport of art work, since the exhibition spaces this year will be fairly large. It is also possible to participate with a small exhibition booth (SEK 2000 + VAT).
Catalogue:
For SUPERMARKET, a 4 colour catalogue will be published. The catalogue will include images and information about all the exhibitors, as well as their postal addresses, phone numbers, email addresses etc. This information will also be published at the website.
Organisation:
SUPERMARKET 2010 is organised by the artist-led SUPERMARKET ART FAIR registered association, in collaboration with a network of artist-run organisations in Stockholm.
